FDA approves new Tate & Lyle sweetener
Article Abstract:
The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Tate & Lyle's new sweetener for use in 15 types of food products. The 'sucralose' brand sweetener is made by Johnson & Johnson's McNeil Speciality Products unit under license from Tate & Lyle. The new, calorie-free sweetener can be used in food products such as ice cream, frozen dairy desserts, baked goods, jams and chewing gum.

Tate & Lyle sees profits rise 13.6% in the first nine months

Tate & Lyle of the UK, a sugar, sweeteners and starch group, has reported pre tax profit up 13.6% to 311 million pounds sterling on turnover up 12% to 4.71 billion pounds sterling, in the year to September 1995. Its sweeteners and starch operations performed particularly well in the US. The company wants to make further progress in investments in emerging markets.
